Knee arthritis treatment will include physiotherapy, knee injection and total knee replacement.

The cartilage of the knee is complex and it is made of elastic comprehensive structure.
The normal articular cartilage is called hyaline cartilage; it provides a smooth, gliding surface to help the motion of the joint.
There is about 2cc of the synovial fluid inside the knee that helps in the motion and lubrication of the joint.
Between the hyaline cartilage which is called the articular cartilage you can see the meniscus, the lateral and the medial, the meniscus is a shock absorbing cartilage or cushion between the articular cartilages.
The hyaline cartilage has 4 layers:
1- The superficial layer.
2- The middle layer.
3- The deep layer.
4- The calcified layer
After the calcified layer you find the bone.
These cartilage cells are supposed to live forever.
Good cartilage cells are sterile; they can’t make more cartilage if these cartilage cells are destroyed.
If the cartilage is subjected to excessive wear, trauma, injury, overuse, excessive weight or improper alignment, then the cartilage will wear away leaving the bone to rub against bone.
The cartilage doesn’t have the ability to heal itself by hyaline cartilage, but sometimes it can heal itself by inferior type of cartilage called fibrocartilage, especially if the area that needs to be repaired is small.
What is the treatment of the arthritis of the knee?
1- Medication: people respond differently to medications, the doctor select the type, dosage and duration of the treatment, the medication has to be safe and effective.
Ask the doctor about the side effect of the medication.
There are several medications for example: NSAIDS.
2- Losing Weight: it’s advisable to lose about 5% of the body weight, especially if the BMI was above 25.
3- Low Impact Physical Therapy: such activities like swimming or cycling, adds less stress on the knees, life style modification to protect the knee will slow the progress of the arthritis, there is a strong evidence that physical therapy will help the patient.
The physiotherapy will decrease the pain, will improve the function, increase the strength, the range of motion; physiotherapy should be individualized with program that meets the patient’s needs, the life style, and expectations.
4- The physician will also use intra-articular injection of steroids; viscosupplementation, or hyaluronic acid, injection will relieve the patient’s pain and disability.
5- Other injection methods:
– Gene therapy
– PRP
– Growth factor
– Stem cells
6- Other treatment options:
– Acupuncture
– Massage
– Glucosamine
– Chondroitin sulfate
– Valgus directing brace
– Wedges in the foot
– Arthroscopic debridement and lavage
7- Assistance devices:
– Cane
– Shock absorbing shoe
– Shoe inserts
– Knee sleeves
– Support brace
8- Arthroscopy shouldn’t be done in arthritis unless there is loose body or meniscal tear causing mechanical symptoms of recurring lacking, catching, swelling and pain.
There are some guide lines from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeon AAOS: these guidelines are suggestive, and the treatment of the arthritis patient should be individualized and based on:
– The doctor’s clinical judgment.
– The patient’s clinical situation.
– The evidence tested and published.
It is a combination of all of these factors.
If it works for you, it may not work for your neighbor.
So basically arthritis can be minimal, and anything can help the arthritis ion this situation.
But if the arthritis is moderate then the physician has many options for treatment and none of those options are predictable in the result.
When the arthritis is severe, total knee is the most predictable option for treatment of arthritis.
You have to reduce the pain and improve the function of the knee.

A 23-year-old acrobat who fell during a stunt-gone-wrong is speaking out from the hospital where he’s recovering from his injuries. Cyrus Nock, a member of the carnival performance group known as the “Nerveless Nocks,” was ending his performance at a fair in Cape Cod on the “Wheel of Destiny” when he fell, smashed into the metal frame and tumbled to the ground below. Nock told Inside Edition that he collapsed a lung, cracked three ribs, crushed his vertebrae and got a small crack in his spine.
Can you survive falling out of a plane? Such miracles happen extremely rarely. But you can increase your chances to survive even in the situation when it seems that nothing can save you.
What is the maximum height a person can plummet from and survive? Even the fall from the first floor can turn out bad, one from 33,000 feet. However, Yugoslavian flight attendant Vesna Vulovic managed to survive a fall from such height after her plane blew up in the air as a result of a terrorist attack. She got severe injuries but a bit later returned to the aviation working as a flight attendant again as if nothing had happened. The secret here was that due to her traumas she lost the memories of the catastrophe and didn’t suffer from PTSD or nightmares.

It will take you about 3-6 minutes to fall from the height of 33,000 feet, and the fall itself will have the speed of 120 miles per hour. Unfortunately, the chances to survive are incredibly slim, but hey you have nothing else to do. You can either: watch the clouds go whizzing by, picture just how big an impact crater you’re about to make, or try to save your life.
It’s obvious that to survive; you have to get lucky first of all. But in general, after watching this video your chances to survive after falling from a height have significantly increased. So, share it with your friends you care about.

An unknown strain of pneumonia has been making people ill in Wuhan, China. 44 people have been infected with the unidentified virus, with 11 of them in a serious condition. The local government and health authorities have been able to rule out Avian flu, influenza and adenovirus infection.Many of the patients worked at a seafood market that also traded in live animals like rabbits and birds which has prompted some concerns about a return of the deadly 2002 Sars virus. While Sars hasn’t yet been ruled out, there is no evidence of human-to-human transmission and no medical personnel have become infected.

Originally a self-described “upper-middle-class American White girl with bland politics and polite beliefs,” she converted to Islam while in college, worked as a journalist in Mubarak’s Egypt, and now writes the hugely successful comic series Ms. Marvel. Featuring a Pakistani-American teenage girl from Jersey City named Kamala Khan, Ms. Marvel became a surprise hit, winning a Hugo Award and becoming one of the few comics in Marvel’s history whose first issue reached a seventh printing. Kahn’s image was even used as a major protest icon following the 2016 election.
As the first Muslim superhero in the history of Marvel Comics to have her own series, Kahn is part of a demographic shift in comic books away from mainly White characters. Ms. Marvel’s success would have drawn any author into the debate about American identity. But Wilson—White, female, and Muslim—is a particularly unique and outspoken voice in the comic world, and has had to navigate both the praise for, and the anger against, the changing identity of the American superhero—and the changing identity of their creators.
Join us as we delve into American identity through the story of Ms. Marvel and its author. This event will cover topics including Islam and America’s relationship with it, Wilson’s experiences as a White woman converting to Islam after growing up in an atheist household, her life as a journalist in Egypt, and Ms. Marvel’s success and what it means for comic culture and American culture more broadly. Her co-creation, Ms. Marvel, a coming of age story about a young Pakistani-American girl in Jersey City discovering and coping with her superpowers, has become a phenomenon. Willow converted to Islam in college and moved to Egypt to teach English. While there she wrote her graphic novel Cairo. She describes her exploration of Egypt and Islam in her memoir, The Butterfly Mosque. Her novel Alf the Unseen was a NYT Notable Book of 2012 and won the World Fantasy Award. She continues her part in revolutionizing comics as one of a four-person team behind A-Force, the first superhero team of Marvel’s Mightiest Women. Willow lives in Seattle with her husband and two daughters where she enjoys British films, cooking, World of Warcraft and has a purple belt in Kajukenbo.

Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup is being overshadowed by an expose that one researcher says is shaking the Australian horse-racing industry to its core.
Footage of trained and celebrated racehorses whipped and beaten, given electric shocks, kicked in the head and slaughtered at pet food knackeries where the law says they shouldn’t be.
An ABC investigation is putting the heat on the New South Wales Racing industry, as it denies the scale of the carnage.
It says around 34 horses a year end up at the slaughterhouse, but the 7:30 report investigation revealed there were more than 4,000 racehorses in the past year killed at one abattoir alone – with their identities laid bare due to the brandings of iconic horse studs.
Professor Paul McGreevy from Sydney University’s School of Veterinary Science has done extensive research into the treatment of racehorses over 25 years.
